<p>This clinical-thematic review examines the pathologization of asexuality and its psychological and social consequences in non-Western societies. The study aims to analyze diagnostic challenges, explore mechanisms of clinical misclassification, and provide culturally informed considerations to improve clinical practice. Through a systematic search of disciplinary databases and a review of empirical, qualitative, and clinical case reports, relevant articles were extracted and analyzed thematically. Findings indicate that asexuality is frequently misinterpreted as hypoactive sexual desire disorder or associated medical and psychological conditions. Factors such as inappropriate assessment tools, clinician biases, and socio-cultural–familial pressures in non-Western contexts exacerbate these misclassifications. The consequences of pathologization include increased stigma, negative self-concept, comorbid depression and anxiety, reduced relational satisfaction, and limited access to supportive care. The review highlights gaps such as the lack of culturally adapted instruments, scarcity of longitudinal studies, and limited evidence-based interventions to mitigate harm. Based on these findings, recommendations are offered for precise differentiation between identity and symptoms, comprehensive clinical evaluation, use of validated culturally relevant tools, avoidance of conversion-focused interventions, and emphasis on supportive and educational interventions. This review underscores the urgent need for localized research, clinical training, and supportive policy-making to prevent harm from misdiagnosis. Clinically, it calls for the development of culturally sensitive diagnostic guidelines, educational programs to reduce clinician bias, and research investment in locally adapted assessment tools and intervention studies to evaluate the effectiveness of supportive approaches, thereby enhancing quality of care and equity in sexual health. It also stresses the importance of involving local communities in designing necessary interventions.</p>
