Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of educational goal-setting training on reducing procrastination and increasing achievement motivation in female students of the second year of high school in Dehgolan city in the academic year 1405-1404. The statistical population of the study included all female students of the second year of high school in Dehgolan city in the academic year 2025-2026, which was 763 people. In this study, the available sampling method with random replacement was used in two experimental and control groups. Based on the entry and exit criteria, 28 people were selected as samples and randomly assigned to the two experimental and control groups. To collect data related to procrastination, the Tuckman Procrastination Measurement Questionnaire (1991) was used, and to collect data related to achievement motivation, the Wallerand Achievement Motivation Questionnaire (1992) was used. After collecting the required information, the data were analyzed in line with the research objectives using SPSS software. The results of the multivariate analysis of variance test showed that educational goal-setting training had a significant effect on reducing procrastination and increasing motivation for achievement with a statistical value of F = 81.3 (p˂ 0.001). In this regard, it was suggested that schools hold regular workshops on goal-setting, lesson planning, and time management for high school students, and that families become familiar with the correct principles of educational goal-setting through educational and awareness-raising sessions so that they can support their children at home to plan, pursue goals, and increase academic motivation.
